A living index of what's happening this week in the Auroville–Pondicherry bioregion. Drawn from community chatter, surfaced as a calm reading layer — for newcomers, for old hands, for anyone who'd rather not scroll WhatsApp.

Open News & Notes ↗Vikram keeps a living list of community WhatsApp threads — carpooling, food, parents, marketplace, dozens more. He isn't admin for all; this doc is his curated index, kept current by him.
Last sync · 10 May 2026
Open the list ↗After reading roughly 60,000 messages across two community groups, certain asks come up week after week, year after year. None of them are glamorous. All of them are needed. If you're sketching something for here — or quietly wondering whether to — you could do worse than starting with one of these.
Half the asks are about scooters. The other half are "who fixed your scooter?" Someone who'll show up at your door with a spanner would not run out of customers.
Blenders, mixies, induction tops, fans. Pondy round-trips for a fan switch are the current answer. Quiet, dependable, mobile — pick three.
Recurring, urgent, undersupplied. Aurovillians age, families ask for help, and the language match almost never lands. A small agency could change a lot of weeks.
Post-renovation, post-monsoon, post-anything. Currently quoted as "no one to call". A small crew, real equipment, transparent pricing.
There's a clinic. There aren't enough hands willing to drive out for a feverish dog or a cat with a torn ear. House calls, evening hours, gentle bedside.
Asked every two weeks. Currently the answer is "go to Chennai." Steady demand, no resident practitioner. Drop-in chair, fixed days, done.
Not everything needs a hospital. Sometimes it's a dressing change, a tetanus shot, a second look at a scrape. A nurse with a small cabin could fill a quiet, useful niche.
Endless asks for "anyone know a house-keeper?" with no good infrastructure. A respectful placement service — fair wages, real references, both sides happy — would be welcome here.
If you start one of these — or you're already building something for this place — tell us. We'll add you to the Yellow Pages, and the next person who comes looking won't have to ask twice.
Know an event we missed? A trusted plumber not listed? A wrong entry? Tell us. The page only stays current because people like you tell us when it isn't.

Sree moved to Auroville a year ago with his family — drawn here by everything the bioregion holds for those willing to listen.
He's not really a WhatsApp person. Uses it for emergencies, calls, the occasional family ping. But once he was here, he kept wanting to know what was happening around him — the satsangs, the workshops, the OM chanting circles, the people who could fix a scooter or recommend a doctor or find a Hindi-speaking carer for an elderly neighbour. The information was all there, scattered across thousands of messages in two trusted groups. Hard to search. Easy to miss.
This page is a first attempt to make sense of it — to help fellow seekers, builders, parents and students orient themselves to a place that rewards orientation. Built quietly, in service.
Drawn from two trusted bioregion WhatsApp groups — Voila Pondy (events & happenings, Pondy-leaning) and Put Me In Touch (services & recommendations, Auroville-leaning). About 60,000 messages between them.
Put Me In Touch was started by Vikram Devatha in March 2021 — five years of patient moderation and a quiet rule about staying on topic. Voila Pondy was founded a little later; we'll add the founder's name and date once Sree has had a chance to reach out.
Today this is hand-curated. The plan is to make it self-updating: a small pipeline reads new messages, classifies, extracts dates and venues, and rebuilds this page — with a strict public-safe filter that only surfaces material clearly intended for broadcast.
